Creamy Whole Grain Wheat Cereal

This nutritious and warming whole-grain wheat cereal is so versatile. You can add honey, cinnamon, fruit, other grains such as oats and so much more to make it exactly how you want it! I will usually make this 1 cup of wheat berries at a time. It saves really well for the week for a quick go-to for breakfast.

Ingredients:

  • 1 part wheat berries 

  • 4 parts water

Directions:

  1. Prepare the wheat berries: Sort through wheat berries carefully, discarding any stones. Rinse well under cool running water.

  2. Place in a large heavy saucepan. Add water and a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer gently for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Drain and rinse. 

  3. Add toppings (Vanilla extract, honey, cinnamon, seeds, granola, fruit, yogurt, oats, etc) and enjoy!
